Where to Start Building a Custom Home  

  Step 1        Select a Licensed Contractor

o          Contact your local Homebuilder's Asociations (334.793.6696)

o          Obtain references from friends, family, and co-workers.

o           Interview builders and visit current jobsites.

Step 2        Design the Dream Home

o             Search magazines, internet, sketch on paper, etc.

o             Contractor will make preliminary drawing from your plan source.

o              Brewer Construction can manage the Design and Build.

Step 3        Procure the Land

o             Build on private land - or

o             Build on land contractor has in local subdivisions.

Step 4        Review Preliminary Budget

o             Contractor will provide a preliminary pricing guideline based on

        your custom designed plan.  

Step 5        Approve Final Design Documents

Step 6        Agree on Contract Terms and Conditions

Step 7        Commence Construction

o             Contractor will have daily onsite presence and supervision.

o             Contractor will advise on the priority for each design selection :

 Brick, roof, siding, exterior doors, hardware, etc.

 Paint, flooring, lighting fixtures, plumbing fixtures, appliances, etc.

Step 8        Communicate with Contractor

o             Request updates on the status of your home any time during construction.

o             Changes are expected and can be implemented with proper planning.
